We are pleased to announce that on 19 May 2025, Professor Beata Gessel-Kalinowska vel Kalisz, attorney-at-law, founding and Senior Partner at GESSEL law firm, was appointed President of the Polish National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Poland). Her appointment follows a by-election held within the ongoing 2024–2027 term, following the conclusion of Dr. Cezary Wiśniewski’s tenure, who had served in this role continuously since 2018.
Professor Beata Gessel-Kalinowska vel Kalisz is a recognised authority in the field of commercial arbitration and business law, and a former member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris. During her term, she plans to place particular emphasis on promoting and developing the area of international trade.
The composition of the ICC Poland Board remains otherwise unchanged. Dr. Rafał Morek continue to serve as Vice President, while Paweł Pniewski and Wojciech Kowalewski remain Board Members.
We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Cezary Wiśniewski for his many years of dedicated leadership of the ICC Poland National Committee. We also warmly congratulate the new President and wish her every success in guiding the Committee’s future activities.
Professor Beata Gessel-Kalinowska vel Kalisz, habilitated doctor, a professor at the Institute of Legal Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences (INP PAN), an international arbitrator, and founding and managing partner at GESSEL. She is a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague (2024–), former member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration (2015–2021), Honorary President of the Lewiatan Arbitration Court, member of the SCC Board of Arbitrators (2022–), and Chair of the Audit Committee of the Polish Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (PSIK). Since 2025, she has headed the newly established Centre for Comparative Private Law Studies at the Institute of Legal Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences.
She specialises in international arbitration and commercial law, particularly in M&A and private equity transactions, combining deep legal expertise with extensive practical insight into the construction, energy, and international trade sectors.
